How Lowe’s can save $600K per year with Kaedim

Why this matters for e-commerce teams
To understand the real-world impact of the 23 hours saved per asset, we compared the market-average production times and hourly artist rates to the actual time Kaedim spent creating the three assets in this study.
About the studio
Lowe’s is one of the largest home improvement retailers globally, operating thousands of stores across North America and serving both DIY customers and professional contractors, with a strong emphasis on digital transformation to improve merchandising, operations, and customer experience. We chose Lowe’s for this case study because they exemplify how 3D digital twins can be deployed at enterprise scale to deliver tangible business value—enabling faster product digitization, accurate and consistent visualization across channels, and more efficient internal workflows—showcasing how 3D moves from experimentation to a production-ready capability.
Slow and manual 3D production can’t keep up with large changing catalogs
High costs make full 3D coverage across thousands of SKUs impractical
Inconsistent or limited product visuals hurt e-commerce performance
Keeping up with seasonal updates and vendor changes
Kaedim’s pipeline delivers accurate 3D models 4× faster at retail scale
Lower 3D production costs by up to 73% without sacrificing quality
High-fidelity and standardized 3D assets that improve visualization and conversion
Rapid and flexible 3D asset generation without expanding in-house resources

What we built
Physically Accurate Representation: Models reflect real-world proportions, dimensions, and forms with high precision. Shapes, edges, and structural details should match the physical product exactly, avoiding stylization or exaggeration.
True-to-Life Material Fidelity: Materials follow physically based principles. Surface qualities—gloss, roughness, metallic characteristics, translucency—should replicate real materials under neutral lighting, producing consistent, predictable results across platforms.
Authentic Surface Detail: Micro-details such as stitching, seams, fasteners, textures, and manufacturing marks are included only when they exist on the real product. No added embellishment or artistic interpretation.
Controlled, Accurate Color & Finish: Color values should match brand-approved swatches or physical samples. Textures capture realistic variation—subtle wear, noise, or patterning—without exaggeration. Final assets maintain uniform color accuracy across lighting environments.
- Even, controlled curvature on plastic and metal parts
- Small, consistent bevels on edges

Our impact, for every part of the process
Traditionally, each stage of 3D asset production—geometry generation, mesh optimization, UV unwrapping, texturing, and revisions—takes about one full day of turnaround time. With Kaedim, these same stages are completed in a fraction of a day, often within a few hours or less.
Across all stages shown, this results in 2× to 6× speedups, with an overall average of 3.7× faster total turnaround. These improvements come from Kaedim’s automation in reconstruction, UVs, texturing, and revision matching, accelerating what would normally take multiple days into a much shorter timeline.
On top of this per-asset speedup, Kaedim can process large batches of assets in parallel, further increasing throughput and compressing production schedules compared to traditional outsourcing teams.
